currently restoring an old TRW found under an olive tree in the middle of nowhere, in Northern Cyprus. Found the owner and shipped it to south Wales. Judging by the colour i expect it is an ex RAF militery police model, but have no idea what year it is. it’s got a single coil and alternator.

remarkably original but with lots missing, particularly electrics. Have managed to get a NOS wiring harness and a PSR8 switch and ammeter but that’s about it so far.

I’d like to convert to 12v. I understand that it’s a reasonably straight forward conversion but………there’s bound to be a but somewhere.

could anyone advise which alternator to buy and whether i need a replacement coil (or 2) and explain how to rewire the alternator leads

burtonbikbits have a battery box but the original battery straps have the screw connector missing. any ideas?

Need to scan the original photo from N Cyprus but found the original N Cyprus registration document transferring ownership to me dated 1991!

bit of a relaxed restoration project.

complete new forks fitted; professionally rebuilt engine with new guides and springs, mains and rings; new wiring harness, reupholstered original saddles; rebuilt distributor and speedo

    all put together -ish

priority is to sort out electrics with newly acquired PRS8 switch, and then fit all cables.

air filter is going to be an issue as i have not come across one before and this was missing when i acquired the bike

will take some new photos showing current state, hopefully tommorrow.

Sadly the front wheel needs rechroming which is going to be a problem as no known electroplaters to do this in S Wales.

solved the 12v conversion issue but do i really want to do this? instead may fit PAZON booster 2 if i can find anyone who knows anything about this. considering fitting rectifier /regulator but ignorance of basic electrics is stumbling block. hopefully common sense and interpreting original wiring diagram should surfice

as they say in Turkey- “Allah will Provide”
